Cop Gets Desk Duty After Viral Video Shows Him Tasing Black Man & Punching Him In The Face Twice During Traffic Stop

A viral video capturing the violent arrest of 42-year-old Wayne Vick in Chester, Pennsylvania has triggered public outrage and prompted an official investigation. Filmed during a May 27 traffic stop, the footage shows Vick lying on the ground while Chester police officer Michael Brodzinski tasers him and repeatedly yells, “Keep your f—ing hands behind your back!” As Vick screams in pain, the officer kneels over him, struggles to control his arms, and punches him twice in the face.

According to court records, Brodzinski stopped Vick for having tinted front windows. Vick allegedly fled on foot after initially pulling over, prompting the officer to deploy his Taser during the chase. Brodzinski stated he used the Taser three more times once Vick was on the ground, claiming Vick resisted arrest and reached for his waistband, which he said justified the punches.

Bystanders can be heard challenging the officer in the video. When a woman asks why he hit Vick, Brodzinski replies, “Because he was fighting.” Another onlooker interjects, noting that Vick was already “on the ground, already tased.”

The Chester Police Department identified Brodzinski and placed him on administrative leave while the department conducts a full review of the incident, including body-worn camera footage. “It is important to emphasize that the video circulating on social media does not capture the full context,” the department said, asserting that complete footage “documents the encounter from initiation to conclusion.”

Vick faces multiple charges, including possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and evading detention. He is being held in a county facility on $20,000 bail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 10.

Chester Mayor Stefan Roots called the incident “deeply concerning,” stating, “The public deserves answers.” He has requested an independent investigation by the Delaware County District Attorney. “We are committed to the truth, to justice, and to ensuring that our police department reflects the values of our community,” Roots added.

District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer confirmed his office would review the case fully before issuing a finding, promising a thorough and transparent process.
