Dr. Lupe Carrasco Cardona(@lupe_teaches_ethnic_studies ) delivered a powerful talk titled “The History, Her Story, Our Story,” centering on the importance of knowing and honoring ancestral roots. She reminded Black and Brown youth that their lineage includes both royalty and resilient working-class builders, urging them to take pride in their heritage.
Cardona connected history to the present, addressing socio-economic inequality and the ongoing violence faced by unarmed young Black men, along with challenges impacting immigrant and migrant communities. She called on students to see themselves as part of a larger movement; empowered to protect their rights, uplift their communities, and shape a more just future.
