Students Learn Their Educational Rights & College Pathways From Paloma Kumugai and José Fernández Brito

At the Los Angeles Know Your Rights Camp, Paloma Kumugai and José Fernández Brito of @immschools led an education session focused on equipping students with knowledge about their academic rights and opportunities. They reinforced that attending school is a constitutional right while exploring the historic battles fought to secure access to education. 

The session provided practical guidance on preparing for college, from selecting high school courses to understanding financial aid and application timelines. Students were actively engaged, asking about AP classes versus dual enrollment and taking detailed notes. The workshop also connected educational success to broader family and community challenges, affirming that everyone has the right to know their rights.
