Meta Aligns With Trump to Limit Public Transparency By Blocking ICE List Links

Meta has begun blocking users from posting links to the ICE List, a website that publishes the names of thousands of Department of Homeland Security employees involved in immigration enforcement. The move shows, once again, how deeply the company has aligned itself with Donald Trump and his political agenda.

The ICE List site went viral earlier this month after releasing what it says are the first and last names of nearly 4,500 Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents, along with other DHS workers carrying out Trump’s immigration crackdown. Almost immediately, Meta stepped in to prevent the information from being shared on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads, hiding behind company rules about “personally identifiable information.”

Dominick Skinner, the creator of ICE List, made it clear what he believes is really happening. “I think it's no surprise that a company run by a man who sat behind Trump at his inauguration, and donated to the destruction of the White House, has taken a stance that helps ICE agents retain anonymity,” he told Wired. His comment captures what many people see plainly: Meta is not acting as a neutral platform. It is protecting the administration and shielding its agents from public accountability.

Skinner said the trouble began Monday night when users suddenly found they could no longer share the ICE List on Meta platforms. The company claims it is only enforcing existing policies, but the timing makes the motivation obvious. As Trump escalates deportations and raids across the country, Meta is stepping in to help control what information the public is allowed to see.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin have loudly attacked the website, accusing it of endangering federal officers. McLaughlin called it “disgusting doxxing” and claimed it puts “their lives and their families in serious danger.” She argued that officers are “on the frontlines arresting terrorists, gang members, murderers, pedophiles, and rapists,” and blamed “malicious rhetoric of sanctuary politicians” for creating threats against them.
