LAUSD & Know Your Rights Camp Unite By Empowering 9 High Schools to Stand Confidently in Their Rights

Blanca Cruz, principal of Edward R. Roybal Learning Center and the Roybal Film and Television Magnet, spoke about hosting Know Your Rights Camp in partnership with nine LAUSD Region East high schools. The event focused on equipping students with the confidence and knowledge to assert their rights. Cruz shared an emotional story about her mother’s fear during the Ronald Reagan era, reminding students why understanding rights is deeply personal and generational. She called for solidarity and sustained commitment, drawing inspiration from leaders like Colin Kaepernick. The gathering affirmed a shared promise to build a safer, more just future for the next generation.
