Jordan Hall( @japplebeans), a 17-year-old senior at Girard College, reflects on her impactful experience at the Know Your Rights Camp in Philadelphia. She was particularly inspired by a speaker who, after serving 12 years in prison, pursued art as a career, defying the notion that older Black men don't often engage in the arts. This resonated with Jordan, who is passionate about multimedia art, working with textiles, clay, and pottery. She believes that limiting oneself to a single art form restricts personal expression, especially for people of color, who should use art to challenge societal perceptions. For Jordan, true freedom lies in loving oneself unconditionally.
